Karen C. Vaughan, 78, of Garnavillo passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at the Guttenberg Care Center surrounded by her sons.

Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 28, at Morris Funeral Home in Garnavillo. 

Inurnment will be held at a later date. 

Karen was born on Jan. 19, 1946, in Farmersburg, the daughter of Laverne and Mary Jane (Hafke) Funk. She was the youngest of three children, Dave, Al, and Karen. She graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1964. She moved to Chicago where she worked and met her future husband, Jim Vaughan. They married in November of 1966. Together, they moved back to the farm in Garnavillo to raise their four children, Phil, Tony, Chris, and Jason. 

After retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and spending time at her son’s bar. She also enjoyed traveling. 

Survivors include her children, Phil (Deb) Vaughan, Tony Vaughan, Chris (Elise) Vaughan; grandchildren, Allison, Brian, Steven, Hannah, Randy, Taylor, and Parker; great-grandchildren, Harper, Rose, Lily, Hazel; and a brother, David Funk. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Jason; parents; brother, Al Funk; and brother-in-law, Ed Vaughan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Guttenberg Hospital, St. Croix Hospice, Garnavillo EMS, and to all friends and family.
