A new family enterprise is in the works in rural Clayton County. Business partners and family members Chris, Grace, and Nate Meier, and Katie and Nick Ware have recently designed a line of men,  women, and children's T-shirts sharing the Word of God, and honoring our nation and armed forces.

GloryWear – Glory through apparel

GloryWear was created following an inspirational sermon by Pastor Gary Hatcher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. "Pastor Hatcher's sermon one Sunday was about how we can share the Word without preaching, being pushy, or putting people off," began Chris, a recent Upper Iowa University graduate and mother of Katie, Grace, and Nate. "I leaned over toward Grace and whispered, 'John 3:16 – let's put that on a T-shirt'. The premise was to encourage people to ask what it means."

Gathering unique talents

The uplifting idea began to take root and is now a growing business. "We are all involved, and willing to share our unique talents to spread the good news that God loves all of us, remind people to ask God to bless America, and honor those who have served, and are serving our country," she proudly shared.

Matt and Chris Meier's daughter, Katie, and son-in-law, Nick, who is a very talented artist, are creating many of the GloryWear designs, and their daughter, Grace, is working behind the scenes on marketing. Their son, Nate, who is majoring in Actuarial Science and Data Analytics at Wartburg College in Waverly, will help with the financial aspects and the logistics of a pop-up business.

Product availability

Both households are tackling the job of making GloryWear apparel in preparation for the busy summer retail season.

GloryWear will be available this summer at Guttenberg Farmer's Market; Edgewood Rodeo Family Day; Garnavillo Independence Day celebration; Guttenberg Stars and Stripes celebration, and the Clayton County Fair vendor building.

Distinctive designs

GloryWear patriotic shirts feature a bold red, white and blue design on a white shirt. John 3:16 and other inspirational verses, and GloryWear logo shirts are offered in a variety of colors. Men's and youth's T-shirts are available in a standard box fit, and women's can be purchased in a semi-fitted style. Sizes will include everything from Youth XS to Adult 4XL

Family Pride

The family is excited to work together on their new business venture  "We will see how everything flows this summer, and may expand on the apparel collection. Nick would like to include screen printing, and Katie hopes to start embroidery," commented Chris. "I am thankful to have a family activity that brings us all together. It's been fun collaborating together about artistic ideas. Everybody's going in so many directions nowadays, it will be nice to spend more time with each other."

"We feel proud and excited to help her achieve something that she has been considering for a while," said Grace and Nate.
