Bulldogs continue strong start

The MFL MarMac cross country team continued its strong start to the season last week.
Fresh off a team title in their home invite, five girls finished in the top 12 at the Clayton Ridge meet on Sept. 10 to help the Bulldogs place first as a team for the second time.
Brooke Donlon led the way with a fourth place finish in 22:52.10. Cora Keehner and Taryn Moser followed in fifth and sixth with respective times of 22:59.60 and 23:00.60. Charlotte Meyer crossed the finish line ninth in 23:54.30, and Skylar Fisk claimed 12th with a time of 24:10.30.
Lauryn Sandstrom placed 30th for the Bulldogs, Emma Driscoll 35th and Mariah Moser 42nd.
In the boys race, Jacob Schellhorn turned in a time of 17:53.30 to place fifth. A 20:52.60 put Tucker Ruff in 23rd place. Payton Schultz finished 52nd.
MFL MarMac was back in action Sept. 12, at North Fayette Valley, where the girls were sixth as a team with a score of 149. Sumner-Fredericksburg earned the top spot at 49.
With a 23:22.5, Taryn Moser was the lead Bulldog runner in 19th place. Keehner followed in 23rd, after posting a 23:44.1, while Donlon finished 27th in 24:00.9. Meyer was 39th with a time of 24:40.2, and Fisk rounded out the score in 44th with a 25:19.9.
Evelyn Ruff crossed the line 55th, Mariah Moser 100th and Driscoll 103rd.
Schellhorn and Tucker Ruff were MFL MarMac’s only boys runners, placing a respective 38th and 39th, with times of 21:02.3 and 21:02.4.
This week, the Bulldogs will run at the Elkader Golf and Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 19.
