The Wauzeka-Steuben Cross Country team attended Boscobel’s Greg Bell Memorial Night Run last Thursday, Sept. 19. Despite stormy conditions that delayed the race and force several teams to withdraw from the event, the Hornets stayed and competed. Both Hornet teams placed seventh with the boys finishing with 177 points and the girls 194 points.

The Hornets got a 26th place finish from Isabella Bunders in 21:52 to lead the girls team. She was followed by Emma Udelhoven in 39th place (23:51), Alayna Martin in 40th place (24:10), Ellah Jones in 41st place (24:10), Mallory McCullick in 48th place (25:31), Leah Peralta in 49th place (25:59) and Ali Jelinek in 55th place (26:38).

Brett Wagner led the Hornet boys with a tenth place finish in a new school record time of 16:58. He was followed by Nolan Reed-Mullikin in 21st place (17:41), Cody Wagner in 39th place (18:52), Parker McCullick in 53rd place (19:57), Josh Martin in 54th place (19:58), Andrew Mezera in 63rd place (21:00) and Stetson Zeeh in 73rd place (30:47).

The Hornet runners will next compete this Thursday at the Prairie du Chien Invitational at the Prairie du Chien Country Club starting at 4 p.m.
