Warriors finished home XC meet with four medalists

The Warriors cross country team ran at home last week, and the boys put on another impressive performance on the course at the Elkader Golf & Country Club finishing second behind Charles City, but once again, they beat all of the class 1A teams and conference opponents. 

The effort was rewarded with four runners receiving medals, including Gavin Holst, who finished 5th with a course record time of 18:01.3, followed by Carson Ruegnitz in 8th with a course best 18:50.5. The other two medalists were Jesse Polkinghorn in 13th with a course best 19:35.0 and Henry Reimer who put in a season best time with 20:00.9. Tyce Zittergruen also finished inside the top 20 with a 16th place finish.

Declan Finley was next in 25th, followed by Vaughn Zittergruen in 26th, Michael White finished in 28th, Bryce Heller was 41st, Breckon Holst crossed the finish line in 44th, Griffen Koehn was 48th, and Carter Krugger finished 52nd. 

In the girls 5000-meter run, Blair Scherf was the top finisher for the Warriors in 18th, with Coral Rork close behind in 20th. Alexis Thiese finished in 29th, while Hannah Friedlein was 36th, Aspen Rork finished 41st, Lily Becwar was 50th, and Brooke Tieden finished in 58th. The Central girls finished in 4th place. 

The team will next run in Waukon on Tuesday, September 24th with races starting at 4:00pm.
