Warriors go on road and take the win over Kee

The schedule got a little easier this week for the Central volleyball team, with just one game against Kee High.

The Warriors came out and took the first set 25-16, but stumbled a bit in set two, losing 25-21, before coach Kelly Erickson said, “they found their rhythm and finished the night playing at the level we know we’re capable of,” and won sets four and five by the scores of 25-9 and 25-9, taking the victory. 

“The Warriors had contributions from many players on offense, showcasing our depth and versatility and this well-rounded offensive effort played a crucial role in securing our win, demonstrating the strength and balance of our team,” Erickson said.

Leading the team was Tori Sylvester with 13 kills, followed by Alivia Wiley with nine kills, while Reese Berns added seven and Oakley Armstrong contributed six. On defense, Brylee Erickson led the way with 14 digs, followed by Wiley with 11 and Tori Sylvester added 8eightdigs. Katie Royer and Armstrong each chipped in with seven digs. The Warriors serve receive was strong throughout the match, with only four errors across the four games and Erickson said “Royer did an outstanding job setting up our offense, finishing with 37 assists.”

One of the goals for the Warriors is to consistently serve at 90% or higher, and they achieved that goal against Kee serving exactly 90% for the night. Erickson was perfect from the line, going 13 for 13 with seven aces, and Wiley went 16 for 16 with six aces.

This week, the Warriors will play two conference opponents, starting at home on Tuesday, September 24th against Clayton Ridge at 5:00pm, followed by a road game on Thursday, September 26th against MFL MarMac at 5:00pm. The Warriors will finish the week oin Saturday, September 28th, with the Decorah tournament starting at 8:00am.

“It’s going to be a busy week, and we’re looking forward to building on our momentum!” Erickson said.
