MFL Cross Country competes well in tough meets

The MFL MarMac cross country team ran in two meets this past week. They competed in Waukon and at Grundy Center. 

 

On Sep. 24 the Bulldogs ran in Waukon. Neither the boys’ JV or varsity teams placed but many ran well and improved. 

 

The lone varsity competitor, Tucker Ruff, landed in 33rd with a time of 20:06.53. This is a significant improvement from his time of 20:52 which he ran on Sep. 10. 

 

On the boys’ JV Logan Ross ran a time of 26:06.14 followed by Payton Schultz with a time of 28:55.78.

 

On the girls’ side of the results the team placed 5th, again with many improvements from previous meets.

 

The girls’ had one competitor finish top ten, which was Charlotte Meyer with a time of 21:39.98. 

 

Meyer was followed by Cora Keehner running a time of 22:27.66, placing 18th. Taryn Moser placed 25th with a time of 22:48.63.

 

Skylar Fisk and Kennedy Bachman ran closely together most of the race, earning themselves the places of 41st and 45th of 24:01.34 and 24:15.21. They were followed by Emma Koether with a time of 25:00.38, and a place of 51st.

 

The Waukon Invitational is a tough meet and all competitors put forward their best efforts to improve and better themselves for future meets. 

 

The Bulldogs also traveled to Grundy center for the Sam Iverson Invitational last week. The girls’ team was able to secure a 5th place team finish again. Although the boys’ team which has been struggling in numbers, did not place. 

 

In the boys’ varsity race Jacon Schellhorn secured a top ten finish, placing 9th with a time of 17:58.56. 

 

Schellhorn was followed by the Bulldogs’ only other Varsity competitor. Ruff ran a time of 20:21.19 and earned the place of 38th. 

 

In the boys’ JV race Schultz placed 34th running a time of 28:41.08.

 

The girls’ 5th place team finish was led by Keehner in 22nd with a time of 23:05.50, followed closely by Brooke Donolan running a time of 23:05.89 placing 23rd. 

 

The girls’ also saw Meyer in 40th place with a time of 24:14.49 and Bachman with a time of 24:41.72, placing 45th. 

 

Evelyn Ruff was also seen in the varsity results placing 53rd, running a time of 25:15.08.
