The Prairie du Chien Volleyball team hosted Richland Center last Tuesday, Sept. 24 and were defeated in three sets. The Hornets defeated the Hawks 28-26, 25-21 and 25-19. The first set featured both teams having several match points late before the Hornets got the hard fought set win.

Prairie du Chien traveled to River Valley two nights later looking to sweep the host Blackhawks in regular season competition for the first time in program history. The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 match lead with set wins of 25-13 and 26-24 but were unable to pull out the win in the third set as the host Blackhawks won 25-22 to keep the match alive. River Valley used the momentum of that win to take the next two matches 25-17 and 15-7 to defeat the Hawks in five sets.

PdC made the journey to Richland Center this past Saturday for the Richland Center Invitational and went 2-3 at the tournament. The Hawks began the morning with Riverdale and were defeated in two hard fought sets (25-23 and 27-26).

Next up was Seneca and it was the Royals who came out fast as they defeated the Hawks 25-12 to take a 1-0 set lead. Prairie du Chien would answer by winning the second set 25-22 to send the match to a deciding third set. The Royals won the back-and forth final set 15-12 to win the match. Another team from the Ridge & Valley Conference awaited the Hawks in their next match as PdC took on La Farge/Youth Initiative and the Hawks defeated the co-op in two sets (25-13 and 25-8).

Following a half hour lunch break, the Hawks took on the Necedah Cardinals and once again earned a sweep as PdC won 26-24 and 25-17 to even their mark for the day at 2-2. The Hawks final match of the day was against the host Hornets but it was all Hornets from the start as Richland Center won both sets (25-9, 25-17) to sweep the Hawks.

The Hawks traveled to Dodgeville last night before they return home for senior night next Tuesday, Oct. 8 against Lancaster.
