Errors at the net plagued the River Ridge volleyball team last Thursday night in a 3-0 loss to host Shullsburg in Six Rivers West conference action.
With the loss, coach Dianne Langmeier’s Timberwolves fell to 2-7 in league play with three conference games remaining on their schedule.
Despite taking the Miners to the limit in two of their three sets, the Timberwolves suffered three straight losses of 25-22, 25-17 and 27-25.
“One thing that we need to improve upon is cleaning up our spiking errors,” said coach Langmeier. “We had 22 errors at the net, so that is something that we can work on in the next few days.”
Among the bright spots for River Ridge Thursday night was the play of defensive specialists Josey Drone, who had 28 total digs to go along with one service ace.
Reghan Zinkle and Mallory Crubel also had impressive performances, Zinkle finishing with 10 kills, 16 digs and two blocks, and Crubel with 22 assists, four kills and one block.
The Timberwolves will next host Benton Thursday night, then will concluded the regular season with road matches at Belmont (Oct. 15) and Cassville (Oct. 17).
