Central wrapped up its football season with a 50-0 blowout victory over the West Central Blue Devils on Oct. 18.

The Warriors accumulated over 350 offensive yards while thoroughly dominating on defense, limiting the Blue Devils to 83 total yards and forcing four turnovers.

“It was a great way to end the season. Everyone played hard, executed their assignments and had fun. The majority of the game went our way. The boys played hard and embodied everything we teach in practice,” said coach J.W. Downs.

The Warrior offense was piloted by quarterback Preston Kulper, who went 7-10 for 91 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 32 yards on 10 attempts.

The rushing attack by committee racked up 271 total yards and five touchdowns, with Logan Sharpe leading the way with 80 yards and one touchdown on 13 attempts. Mason Loan rushed for 79 yards on just three attempts and scored a pair of touchdowns. Maddux Eglseder and Jack Scherf combined for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

The receiving corps totaled 86 yards and two touchdowns, with Loan accounting for 36 yards  on one catch and one touchdown. Sharpe finished with a 19-yard touchdown reception. Scherf added 16 yards on three catches and Eglseder finished with 10 yards on two catches.

Braxton Bormann led the defense with a team high nine solo tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss. Kulper, Eglseder and Max Fettkether each had four solo tackles and Eglseder had a tackle for a loss. Scherf and Corbyn Clark each finished with two tackles.

Recovering the three fumbles were Fettkether, Scherf and Kyle Reinhart. Scherf recorded the game’s only interception.

The Warriors finished the season with a record of 3-5.

“I thought this was a great game to send our seniors out on. They have done so much for this program, so to send them out on a note like that makes me extremely happy,” said Downs. “I want to thank everyone who supported us throughout this season. From fans, to parents, to students, to admin, everyone played a part in our success this year. Huge shout out to my seniors, who helped redefine the culture of this program.”
