Coach Dianne Langmeier and her River Ridge volleyball team concluded the regular season last Thursday night with a Six Rivers West record of 4-8, finishing fifth in the final league standings. Overall they went 11-12 during the regular season.
The Timberwolves closed out conference play with a 3-1 victory over host Cassville last Thursday night, where they won the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-19.
In a close back and forth contest in the third set, the host Comets kept the match alive and avoided the sweep with a 25-21 victory over their visitors.
Coach Langmeier’s squad then closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set, collecting their fourth conference victory of the season.
Putting down a team-high seven kills each for the Timberwolves were Reghan Zinkle and Maya Drone, while Alix Goeke was close behind with six. Zinkle also had three blocks, as did Ava Nies.
Mallory Crubel dished out a team-high 26 assists to go along with three service aces, while Josey Drone and Ellaina Gage each had a team-high 22 digs in the victory. Gage and Drone also each had three service aces in the win.
Two nights earlier, the Timberwolves traveled to Belmont, where they were sent home with three straight losses of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-15.
 
Zinkle finished the match with a team-high six kills to go along with three blocks, and was followed by Hailey Kramer with five kills and Ava Nies four.
Crubel finished with nine assists and Josey Drone had at a team-high 17 digs, followed by Gage with 15.
As the No. 10 seed in their WIAA Division 4 sectional tournament bracket, the Timberwolves traveled to No. 7 seed Southwestern on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with the winner advancing to Thursday night’s match against No. 2 seed Hillsboro. Mineral Point holds the top seed in the bracket.
