Local fine art galleries open for shoppers on Saturday, Nov. 30

Artist Rabecca Hennessey and Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center owner Cindy Olson, both members of the Northeast Iowa Scenic Art Loop, are pleased to announce upcoming open houses on Saturday Nov. 30 – Shop Local Saturday.
Rabecca Jayne Hennessey Fine Art
Rabecca Jayne Hennessey Fine Art open house will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in her home studio at 703 South Second Street in Guttenberg.
Rabecca will feature her most recent series of original oil paintings titled, Greetings From Guttenberg, inspired by scenes around Guttenberg and the Mississippi River. Prints and cards will be for sale during the open house at discounted prices. Her original paintings will be available for sale at 20% discount that day only.
"I have a fondness for the changing colors of the Midwest - the spring yellows and pinks, the summer greens, the autumn blazing reds and oranges, and the icy blues of winter," described Rabecca. "The landscape and the people in it creates inspiration for many of my outdoor paintings."
Over the years Rabecca has attended workshops and classes to increase her skills as an artist. "When I attended a plein air workshop, my passion for painting outdoors was ignited," she explained. "I am blessed to study under wonderful artists who have mentored me and inspired me to continue to learn the art of painting in oil."
Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center
Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center, located at 214 South River Park Drive in Guttenberg, will be open from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, and be offering 15% off statement pieces of the Midwest landscape, skyscape, and farmscape paintings in bold, vibrant colors by local artist Jenna Lueck of Balltown.
"I paint so you can feel all the beauty, joy, and emotions of the places that are most meaningful to you," commented Jenna.
The Guttenberg Gallery & Creativity Center recently celebrated their 15-year anniversary providing resources to inspire artistic creativity in a variety of media platforms to area residents and visitors to Guttenberg.
The non-profit gallery features the work of area artists' pottery, jewelry, glass, reclaimed wood and more. The studio offers creative opportunities to paint your own pottery, and design mosaics and glass fusion.
Ongoing events include Kids in the Kitchen, Wednesday watercolor workshops throughout the summer, and felting, stained glass, pottery and Diva Nights, which sell out and fill up fast this fall.
The studio and gallery are also available for private parties and events, and continue to raise awareness and funds for mistreated elephants in Thailand, and the local Family Resource Center.
N.E. Iowa Scenic Art Loop
The Northeast Iowa Scenic Art Loop encourages visitors to northeast Iowa to travel the hills and valleys of the Driftless region’s most scenic counties experiencing art from inception to fulfillment. A self-guided tour will lead you to talented artists' in their studios and galleries, while enjoying artisan food, wine, craft brews, and spirits. Follow the Scenic Art Loop and discover the region’s hidden talent, and interact and enjoy unique individuals along the way.
"The Scenic Art Loop was created to encourage visitors from Chicago that trickle over to Galena and then Dubuque, to continue on throughout northeast Iowa," explained Rabecca.
"We pay a membership fee and they promote your gallery or work on Facebook and include you in all their marketing," added Cindy. "We are getting seen over and over again. Even if they may not visit our gallery or studio we are getting really good visibility on a social media platform."
