The Central softball team ended its second week of play still looking for a win, after losing all six games on the schedule by a combined score of 86-16. The Warriors currently sit seventh in the conference at 0-2.
In a June 2 game against Waukon, Central put up nine runs, including a three-run fourth and five-run sixth inning, but the Indians circled the bases just a few more times in a 13-9 victory. The Warrior pitching staff allowed 13 hits and eight walks, while the defense gave up 12 stolen bases.
Central had a home doubleheader versus Kee on June 4, losing game one 12-0 and game two 20-4.
The Warriors remained at home on June 6 against the Springville Orioles, losing 13-0.
Central pitching allowed 13 hits, while the defense gave up six stolen bases. The offense was held to three hits.
Central hosted a softball tournament on June 7, welcoming the Wapsie Valley Warriors, Clayton Ridge Eagles and East Buchanan Buccaneers. The Warriors dropped their game versus the Buccaneers 10-0, giving up 10 hits while allowing a .435 batting average to the Buccaneer offense. Central’s offense was held hitless with nine strikeouts.
The Warriors also took the loss against Wapsie Valley, giving up seven runs in the second and eight runs in the fourth en route to an 18-3 defeat. Wapsie Valley finished with 19 hits, including two home runs, while Central was limited to three hits while striking out 10 times.
Individual and team statistics for Central were not available for any of these games at press time.
Central has a lighter schedule this week, with a pair of doubleheaders. Action started June 9 at Clayton Ridge, then the team will face the West Central Blue Devils, who are also winless, on June 11.
