Last week was a lighter one for the MFL MarMac softball team, who had just a doubleheader with Turkey Valley on the schedule for June 11. Even that was cut short, as weather postponed the second game a few innings in.
The Bulldogs lost the opener 11-3. They were trailing just 3-2 after the fourth inning, when the Trojans pushed three runs across in the top of the fifth. Turkey Valley tacked on one more run in the sixth, then four in the seventh. MFL MarMac scored once in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t continue a comeback.
The Bulldogs netted seven hits and one walk, as well as four sacrifices, off Trojan pitcher Annika Bodensteiner. Turkey Valley compiled six hits and benefitted from five walks and six MFL MarMac errors. They also swiped seven bases.
MFL MarMac was slated to finish the doubleheader with Turkey Valley on Tuesday, June 17, after a Monday night doubleheader at Kee. The Bulldogs will host South Winneshiek for two games on June 18, then head to a tournament at West Delaware on Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21.
