All three local Crawford County Varsity Volleyball teams were in action this past Thursday, Sept. 4. The Seneca Royals began their season by traveling to North Crawford High School and coming back with a 3-0 win. The visiting Royals won 25-14, 25-16 and 25-6 to begin their season 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the Ridge & Valley Conference.
Wauzeka-Steuben hosted De Soto and came up just short in a five-match thriller three sets to two. The Hornets took the first set 25-12, lost the second set 14-25, won set three 25-20 and then fell to the Pirates in each of the final two sets 13-25 and 14-16.
Prairie du Chien began SWC play by heading to Richland Center and were defeated 3-0 by the host Hornets. The Hawks dropped the first set 15-25, second set 6-25 and 20-25 in a third set that was back-and forth until the very end.
The Hornets and Royals returned to the court last night when Wauzeka-Steuben traveled to Steuben before both teams hitting the road this Thursday with Seneca at Ithaca and Wauzeka-Steuben at Kickapoo. Prairie du Chien is back in action this Thursday as they host River Valley for Parents Night. Seneca hosts their annual tournament this Saturday, Sept. 13 starting at 9:00 a.m.
