Central girls win two more games: record climbs to 11-2


Central's Hannah Erickson had a big night against South Winn. She led the team in scoring with 19 points. She also had six rebounds and two steals.

            The Central girls’ basketball team’s record now stands at 11-2 after two more victories last week. On January 7 the team defeated South Winn by a score of 59-19.

            Hannah Erickson paced the Warriors in the scoring column with 19 points. Delaney Scherf had 11 points. Haley Frieden had nine points while Danielle Weber had six points. Riley Schroeder had two field goals for four points, and Abby Cummer made one out of two free throws to tally a point. 

Hannah Erickson led the team with six rebounds. Haley Frieden and Danielle Weber each had five rebounds. Delaney Scherf had four rebounds.

New scoreboards may offer career opportunities for Prairie du Chien students


Employees of R&K Services of Eau Claire look over one of four new scoreboards for the fieldhouse at Prairie du Chien High School Friday afternoon.

Four new scoreboards were installed in the fieldhouse at Prairie du Chien High School on Aug. 2. The scoreboards included two that are 6 feet by 8 feet, one 4 feet by 8 feet and one big one at 13x7.

WarEagle baseball

WarEagle Nate Helle is safe at home, scoring the team’s only run in the first game of a doubleheader against North Fayette Valley. NFV took the first game 9-1. Game 2 ended in the Tigerhawks’ favor, as well. The final score was 4-0. The WarEagles faced Waukon on June 12. They lost the game, 10-3. On June 14, Clayton Ridge/Central faced New Hampton, who took the game, 5-0. They also dropped a game to MFL MarMac the following day. The final score was 9-0.

Girls win close game; advance in regional play

In a nail-biting February 8 game against Ed-Co, the Central girls won their first-round regional game. Central led Ed-Co 7-4 at the end of the 1st quarter, but Ed-Co came back in the 2nd quarter to take a 19-14 lead at the half. At the end of the 3rdquarter, Ed-Co still held a slim 27-26 lead. Central was able to limit Ed-Co to only three points in the 4th quarter and went on to win by a score of 32-30.
