The Prairie du Chien Football team clinched at least a share of the 21st conference championship with a 39-6 win over New Glarus on senior night this past Friday. The Glarner Knights defense came out strong and limited the Hawks to 14 points in the first half. 
The second half was a different story. The opening kickoff was returned 52 yards for a touchdown by Prairie lineman Jack Simmons. A successful two-point conversion run by Nick McCullick extended the Hawks lead to 22-0.

The Seneca-Wauzeka-Steuben Bluegolds football team welcomed the River Ridge Timberwolves to Seneca last Friday night, looking to get on the playoff bubble with a victory. 
The Timberwolves got on the scoreboard with a 4-yard touchdown run by Brandon Davis in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead on the hosts.

The Prairie du Chien Volleyball team hosted Lancaster on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Hawks opened up senior night by winning the first set 25-22 before the Flying Arrows responded by winning each of the next three sets (25-10, 25-11, 25-22) to win the match 3 sets to 1.

River Ridge Volleyball sweeps Benton

In their only match of the week, coach Dianne Langmeier and her River Ridge Timberwolves swept visiting Benton last Thursday night in Six Rivers West conference volleyball action.
With the win, River Ridge improved to 3-7 in league play, and sit fifth in the league standings with two games remaining.
Benton, who fell to 0-10 in league play with the loss, saw the Timberwolves cruise to victories of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-11 last Thursday night.

River Ridge hosts XC meet at Badger Camp

At their annual home meet held at Wisconsin Badger Camp last Tuesday evening, River Ridge’s Leah Patterson took top honors in the girls race of 45 runners, while her brother Luke finished fifth of 73 participants in the boys race.
Leah Patterson, a sophomore at River Ridge, ran the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21:36.2, finishing nearly a full minute ahead of Riverdale junior Mallory Miess.

Cross country teams run at River Ridge

The Prairie du Chien, Seneca and Wauzeka-Steuben cross country teams each competed at the River Ridge Invitational at Badger Camp on Tuesday, October 8. 
Leading the way for area teams in the boys race was Prairie du Chien. The Hawks placed second with 76 points. 
The Hawks were followed by Wauzeka-Steuben in fourth place with 82 points. Seneca did not have enough runners to qualify for the team race.

The Prairie du Chien/River Ridge/Seneca Boys Soccer team dropped a trio of games last week as the Hawks entered the final week of the regular season. 
First up for the Hawks was a trip to Platteville on Monday, October 7 to take on Platteville/Lancaster. The Hawks were defeated 10-1. 
PdC/RR/Seneca traveled to Richland Center three nights later and were defeated 6-1 by the Hornets.

Seneca Volleyball sweeps pair of matches

The Seneca Volleyball team traveled to North Crawford last Tuesday, October 8 and came away with a pair of conference victories. 
First up for the Royals was De Soto and the Royals earned a three-set sweep of the Pirates with wins of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-18.
The final match of the night for the Royals was against rival Wauzeka-Steuben, and the Royals earned their second three-set match sweep of the night with wins of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-11.

The Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets Volleyball team traveled to North Crawford High School on Tuesday, Oct. 8 when they competed in a conference quad meet against Seneca and North Crawford. The host Trojans defeated the Hornets 3-0 (25-14,25-21,25-22) before Seneca also defeated W-S 3-0 (25-12, 25-9 and 25-11).
The Hornets were back home two nights later to host La Farge/Youth Initiative for senior night and came away with a 3-0 match win over the Wildcats thanks to set wins of 25-23,25-9 and 25-17. The win improved Wauzeka-Steuben’s record to 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the Ridge & Valley Conference.

Prairie du Chien Cross Country teams compete at Wisconsin Dells

Prairie du Chien Cross Country traveled to Christmas Mountain Resort in Wisconsin Dells last Saturday and came away with a pair of top ten team finishes. 
The PdC boys placed third as a team with 102 points. Leading the way for the Hawks was Samuel Kramer in 10th (18:28), Spencer Foley in 15th (19:14), Treyton Reames in 21st (20:07), Landon Smith in 27th (20:45), Lane Henderson in 29th (21:13), Joseph Kramer in 32nd (22:06) and Carter Neis in 34th (28:24).
