Hornets stay unbeaten in RVC play

Following a shuffle of the schedule due to weather postponements, the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets softball team entered their doubleheader at La Farge last Tuesday, April 29 looking to keep its Ridge & Valley Conference record unblemished so far this season.

The Hornets quickly showed they were too much for the host Wildcats as W-S swept the doubleheader 18-0 and 10-0 with both games ending after five innings.

Timberwolves sweep home meet

Host River Ridge dominated in both the boys and girls competitions at last Fridays Timberwolves Track and Field Invite, with the boys team taking top honors with 169 total points, and the girls also taking first with 147 points.

The River Ridge boys were led by Drake Barrineau, who finished first in the 100 (:11.45) and the 200 (:23.50), while also teaming up with Andrew Nies, Lane Copsey and Luke Breuer to not only win the 4x200 (1:35.61), but also set a new meet record.

Red hot Royals keep on winning

Despite a very light week last due to postponements, the Seneca Royals baseball team managed to extend their winning streak to eight-in-a-row with a 13-3 win in five innings over Wauzeka-Steuben.

The Royals traveled to Kickapoo on Tuesday, April 22 and came away with a 14-1 win in five innings. Seneca scored in every inning but one, while holding the host Panthers to one first inning run. The Royals offense was on fire as they collected 17 hits in the win, with five different Royals having multiple hits.

The Seneca Royals track team competed at a pair of meets this past week. First up was a trip to the River Ridge Invitational last Friday evening where the Royal boys finished in seventh place out of 11 teams with 32 points while the girls team placed 10th with 9.50 points. Earning top five individual finishes for Seneca were Tucker Stluka (first in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles in a time of 43.70, fourth in the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles in a time of 17.51 and fifth in the Boys High Jump with a jump of 5-02.00), Aiden Payne (fifth in the

Timberwolves beat Braves 1-0

In a battle for the top spot in the Six Rivers conference, River Ridge paid a visit to Belmont last Tuesday night, where at the time the Braves were 8-0 in league play and the Timberwolves 8-1.

After seven tightly contested innings, each team finished the game with three hits, while River Ridge scored the only run in a 1-0 victory over the Braves.

Belmont softball stops River Ridge

Last Tuesday night’s Six Rivers battle between River Ridge and Belmont featured two of the top-three teams in the league standings, with Belmont entering the contest at 7-1 and River Ridge at 7-2.

Each team plated one run in their half of the first inning, with River Ridge’s Josey Drone scoring on a double steal.

The Prairie du Chien track team had a busy week last week with three meets in five days. First up for the Hawks was the 72nd running of the Prairie Relays last Tuesday, April 22. The Prairie Relays are the second oldest continuous outdoor invitational in Wisconsin. Thirteen teams were in attendance for this year’s event and the PdC boys earned a sixth place team finish with 60 points, while the girls finished seventh with 41 points.
